2026K Challenge Event Details
The 2026K Challenge is a year-long virtual fitness challenge where participants aim to complete an accumulated 2,026 kilometres from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026. Participants may complete their distance through running, walking, hiking, or trail running. This is a free virtual event, with an optional event shirt available for purchase.
Event Distance Goal
The goal is to complete a total of 2,026 km within the event period.
Participants do not need to complete the distance in one activity. Every approved activity submission will be added to the participant’s accumulated distance until they reach the full 2,026 km goal.
Optional Event Shirt
Participants may purchase the official 2026K Challenge Finisher Shirt as an optional add-on.
The shirt is not required to join the event. It is offered for participants who want a wearable keepsake of their year-long challenge and progress.
Finisher Medal
Participants who successfully complete the full 2,026 km accumulated distance within the event period will receive a Finisher Medal upon completion.
To qualify, participants must submit valid activity proof, complete the required distance, and have their submissions approved by the organiser.
Claiming instructions will be sent after completion. Participants must make sure their HelloRun profile contains their correct and complete mailing address, as this will be used for the delivery or claiming process of the finisher medal and any purchased finisher shirt.
Accepted Activities
The following activity types are accepted:
- Run
- Walk
- Hike
- Trail run
Activities may be completed outdoors, indoors, or on a treadmill, as long as the submitted proof clearly shows the required activity details.
Submission Requirements
Each activity submission must include clear proof showing the following details:
- Activity type
- Distance completed
- Duration or time
- Date of activity
- Location, if available
- Screenshot or image proof from a fitness app, smartwatch, treadmill display, or activity tracker
Accepted proof may include screenshots or photos from Strava, Garmin, Nike Run Club, Adidas Running, smartwatch activity records, treadmill displays, or similar fitness tracking tools.
Rules and Guidelines
- The event runs from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026.
- Registration is open until June 30, 2026.
- Participants must complete an accumulated total of 2,026 km within the event period.
- Only activities completed within the official event period will be counted.
- Participants may submit multiple activities throughout the year.
- Only approved submissions will be added to the participant’s total distance.
- Cycling, swimming, driving, motorcycle rides, and other non-foot-based activities are not allowed.
- Duplicate, unclear, edited, or suspicious submissions may be rejected.
- Participants are expected to submit honest and accurate activity records.
- The finisher medal is awarded only to participants who complete the full 2,026 km challenge.
Leaderboard and Progress Tracking
Participants may track their progress through the event leaderboard.
The leaderboard may show:
- Participant ranking
- Total approved distance
- Number of approved submissions
- Completion progress
- Completion status
Suggested status labels include:
- Registered
- In Progress
- Near Completion
- Completed
- Medal Qualified
The leaderboard is meant to help participants monitor their progress and stay motivated throughout the year.
Completion Badge
Participants who complete the challenge may receive a digital 2026K Challenge Finisher Badge.
The completion badge may include the participant’s name, total completed distance, completion date, event name, and HelloRun branding. Participants may save or share the badge as proof of their achievement.
